On March 21-23, 31 drivers and 4 teams from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan competed in a drift competition organized by NAFKU (National Federation of Autosport and Karting of Uzbekistan) at the Aloy parking lot in Tashkent.
Sharp turns, millimeter-accurate collisions and applause from the audience made this show an unforgettable event. It would not be wrong to say that this competition was a great gift for motorsports fans for Navruz. The 1st stage of the show was fully covered by the Sport TV channel, in addition, fans and organizers actively shared hot events and footage on social networks.
Another highlight of the event was the presentation of advanced and modern hybrid car models. Several brands gained new fans, and some were shown to the public for the first time. In particular, the BMW-E30 Rubin sports car, which had been gathering dust for a long time, also took part in the competition with dignity under the leadership of Shohrukh Khudoyarov and in cooperation with ASKO. At the initiative of several bloggers and influencers, interesting challenges were held between cars and with the participation of fans. Sports cars from neighboring countries who visited the 1st stage of the competition also aroused the interest of our motorsports fans. In general, the competition was held under intense energy. And the winners were deservedly awarded.
The role of tires in motorsports
In addition to the skills of the drivers during the Uzbekistan Open Drift Championship, the technical aspects of their cars also played an important role. In particular, tires are one of the decisive factors in drift competitions.
The main essence of drift is to control the rear wheels of the car by sliding relative to the direction. In this process, the quality of tires not only helps to accurately maintain the trajectory of the car, but also increases the driver's control over the drift. Special drift tires have a high coefficient of friction, which helps to keep the car stable. At the same time, the correct pressure, radius and material of the tires are also of great importance for the drift technique.
During the Uzbekistan Open Championship drift competition organized by NAFKU, the durability and efficiency of tires were tested. The adhesion of the tires to the road and the level of slippage at each turn of the competition directly affected the success of the drivers. In particular, the car tires of Egamberdiev Nuriddin, who won the "Driver who emitted the most smoke", presented a spectacular show to the audience with smoke rising from maximum friction.
Tires play an important role not only in drift, but also in other types of motor sports. For example, in track racing, the temperature resistance of tires, and in rally competitions, special treads of off-road tires ensure that the car holds the road firmly. Therefore, choosing tires adapted to each type of sport is one of the strategic decisions for drivers.
