What to do if you have a flat tire on the road?

If you get a flat tire on the road, first stop your car in a safe place and turn on your hazard lights. If possible, it is better to pull over to a designated parking lot or service station rather than the side of the road. It is recommended to put up a hazard sign or turn on your lights to protect yourself from oncoming traffic.

Find the puncture

Once you have reached a safe area, you should quickly locate the puncture. To do this, carefully inspect it or listen for the sound coming from the air leak. If it is not clearly visible, you can apply soapy water or a special air release agent to the surface of the tire. Bubbles will form at the point where the air leaks.

Clean the puncture

Before patching the puncture, it is important to clean it. If a nail or other sharp object has entered, carefully remove it. Then, use a special tool to clean out the dust and debris inside the hole. To do this, it is recommended to carry the rasp (cleaning needle) included in the patch kit.

Prepare the patch tool

If there is a tire patching sealant (rubber thread), place it in a special patching tool. Make sure that the ends of the sealant are the same and prepare it for insertion into the hole by applying special tire adhesive to it.

Insert the sealant into the hole.

When inserting the patching tool into the hole, it is very important to insert it firmly. Both ends of the sealant should remain outside the hole. Once it is in place, gently remove the tool. After the procedure, the excess sealant can be cut off with a knife or a special cutting tool.

Check the air pressure

After the tire is patched, check the pressure and fill it with the required amount of air. If your car has a portable compressor, use it to inflate the tire to the specified pressure. Check again with soapy water or a special tool to make sure that no air is escaping.

Tire Inspection and Service

You can drive your car after a tire has been patched, but remember that this is only a temporary solution. The best option is to replace it with new tires as soon as possible. Buy tires and rims that match your car from ASKO. Fill out the form and we will contact you.
