How can you extend the life of your tires?

  • Temperature: It is estimated that a 1 °C change in temperature between 10 °C and 40 °C corresponds to a 0.6% change in rolling resistance.
  • Inflationary Pressure: According to Goodyear's calculations, every 0.7 bar of underinflation increases fuel consumption by 1% due to higher friction with the road surface.
  • Driving Style: Smooth and slow accelerations and decelerations reduce wear and increase tire life.
  • Road type: Driving in mountains or cities causes more wear and tear than on highways and significantly reduces life expectancy.
  • Road conditions: Gravel and unpaved roads cause more tire wear than smooth roads.
  • Tire location: Front-mounted tires wear more than non-steerable tires.
  • Wheel Alignment: Incorrect alignment of the wheels leads to more wear and more fuel consumption (up to +4.5% on skewed wheels and up to +18.5% on non-parallel wheels).
  • Tread depth: The thinner the tread depth, the lower the friction resistance and wear. To increase the durability of tires, some manufacturers increase the depth of the tread, which, as a result, increases rolling resistance, tire pressure and fuel consumption.
